A central part
of BNS's role is the allocation and administration of grant
aid under two separate rural development programmes.
These programmes
are LEADER +, which is funded wholly through the European Union and the
National Rural Development Progarmme (NRDP), of which the majority of funding
comes from the Irish exchequer.
NRDP funding is largely reserved for rural
tourism projects/ Both programmes are administered nationally by the Department
of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development.
Whatever the project type,
interested potential applicants should note that both programmes require any project
to be innovative in its concept or approach in benefiting the quality of life
of the rural dwellers of the BNS region, in economic. social, environmental or
cultural terms.
BNS will not grant-aid any projects or parts of projects
retrospectively.
